Spring has Sprung (Amsterdam)
by Crystal Angel Fashion Editor
special contributor
- Jill We left New Zealand and took the ever-so-long
flight to Amsterdam in Angel One to catch
the second-to-last Fashion Show of the tour,
the Spring Show of Cindy2. It was nice to have Mela, Mom and Angel and
I all together for a change. Angel chained
Mela to the seat and kept giving her those
tiny bottles of liquor. None of us had ever
been to the Netherlands before and we used
the time on Angel One to go over our tour
books and TRIED to learn a little Dutch. Mom was kinda anxious to get there as she
has a Beau in Rotterdam and Mela fell off
to sleep while Angel and I chatted and tried
our hand at learning Dutch. We had a huge scare over the Atlantic Ocean
about two hours into our flight as alarm
bells and red flashing lights began to sound
and we began losing altitude. Angel unlocked
Mela from her chair and sent her to the co-pilot
seat as Mela had been hanging out there alot
and knew pretty much how to fly. Mom, Angel and I just buckled into our seats
and prayed. We had dropped to about 5,000
feet, just skimming over the ocean when we
leveled out and Chuckie the pilot reassured
us by intercom that we were doing fine but
that Angel One needed to be looked at by a qualified mechanic
when we landed in Amsterdam. We were a little
shaky untill the wheels of Angel One touched
down at Schiphol Airport, and were quite
relieved when a HUGE white Limo pulled up
to Angel One. All four of us thought that Cindy2 had sent
us the Limo, but as the Chaffeur opened the
back door, it was not Cindy2 that exited
but Moms beau, Mars from Rotterdam. We all
hugged and Mars told us that he had called
Cindy2 and asked if he could surprise us.
Mom was shocked to learn that the Limo was
not a rental, but one from Mars' own private
auto collection. We were like REALLY impressed.
Mars informed us that we had the Limo as
long as we needed it, and not knowing how
long the repairs would take on Angel One,
we were very grateful. Mela, Angel, Mom, Chuckie and I entered the Limo with Mars
and it was like a freak out party for all
of us. This was by far the kewlest and most
tricked out Limo we had ever seen. I mean,
it had neon lights, flat panel screens, chrome
and glass everywhere, a full bar and would
probably seat 50% of the residents of Moove.
There was no question that Mars has style,
and I knew this trip to Amsterdam had excitement
written all over it.. The ride to the Crowne Plaza Amsterdam City
Centre did not take long and we were all
glad that the Limo was ours for the taking.
its not everyday you can cruise around a
wonderful and historic (oh yeah and fun too...wink
wink) city in a Bentley Limo - Mela, Angel,
Chuckie the Pilot and i hurriedly changed
as soon as we had checked into our rooms.
The Crowne Plaza Amsterdam City Centre hotel
enjoys a prime location in the city center
of Amsterdam, near the Central Station and
Dam square. The hotel is surrounded by shops,
museums and restaurants and is comfortable
without being too plush. While the rooms
were a little sterile in design, none of
us had any intention of hanging out in the rooms
while the call of Amsterdam ringing in our
ears. Mom and Mars took off alone in a horse
drawn carriage. Mars is like a major romantic. Chuckie told us he had some business to
attend to down in the The Rossebuurt area
of the city, blushed and hailed a taxi. I
overheard Chuckie tell the taxi driver "Gelieve te treffen me aan DE Bananenbar in
Oudezijds Achterburgwal 37... en maatregel
op het". I had no idea what it meant but the
taxi driver smiled and winked at Chuckie.
. Since Mela, Angel and i were not tired due
to the time difference - I really had no
idea what time or even day it was, but I
knew I had a ton of energy and a exciting
city to use it on. The three of us hopped
back into the Bentley Limo and Mela told
the driver, "Kunt u ons aan de Nederlandse de koffiewinkel
van Bloemen op Singel 387, Amsterdam in het
district van het Centrum alstublieft nemen?". The driver nodded and smiled as he
raised the divider and off we went. On the way to whereever Mela had us going,
she told us about the Amsterdam Coffeehouses that sell marijuana and hashish and some
like, Dutch Flowers also has a bar. YOU ARE
TAKING US TO DOPER BAR?. I was shocked to
say the least. Mela knows Angel and I rarely
drink to excess and shy away from illegal
drugs. Mela explained that although it is technically
illegal to do drugs in Amsterdam, the Dutch
authorities have a live and live tolerance
and by having Coffeehouses, they are able
to control it more. I said, "Whatever,
but I'm not doing any drugs. Angel nodded. Dutch Flowers looks like any regular cafe
or coffeehouse from the outside and has a
bar-style coffee shop ambiance and is in
a quiet location. Dutch Flowers offers simple
and stylish surroundings but before entering,
Mela told us to expect to be treated rudely
by the shopkeeper and staff, and to not take
it personally. We went in and sat at a table while Mela
went up to the bar where a line of local
men were smoking and drinking and Mela smiled
at them. Most smiled back and she asked for
something from the bartender in Dutch and
he frowned a tiny bit and made three drinks
and gave Mela a napkin of something. She
paid him and tipped him almost as much, and
he gave Mela a small smile.

Highlights from Cindy2's Amsterdam Fashion
Show
Mela brought our drinks over and took out
a tiny pipe and opened the napkin to show
some stuff that looked lilke brown - red
dirt. "OMG, Mela...thats HASH!",
I almost screamed but quickly covered my
mouth. The men at the bar and looked at us
and I shrank down in my seat. "Mela
laughed at me and Angel picked it up and
sniffed it. I saw a few other people in the
coffeeshop just puffing away with red eyes
and dumb looks on their faces, so I was not
too shocked when Mela lit the pipe of hash.
It smelled very sweet and inviting, but I
passed when Angel handed it to me. "I'm
an Angel, silly....we don't do drugs",
I said. Although I only had one beer, I was getting
all dizzy from the smoke that filled the
coffeehouse and I went outside and sat on
a bench to get some air. That is when I freaked
out. Bright colors and fuzzy little wierd
things were all around me and I was like
major paranoid. I dont really remember anything
after that until the next morning, but the
Limo driver, Mela and Angel took good care
of me and got me home safe. They said I had
a great time, but I don't remember it. The next morning we got up and we all felt
better than we should have, and got dressed
for Cindy's Spring Show at Vondelpark which
is near the Van Gogh Museum. Vondelpark is
the largest city park in Amsterdam, and certainly
the most famous park in the Netherlands,
which welcomes about 10 million visitors
every year and Cindy2 could not have chosen
a more purrfect day for an outdoor show.
We met Mom, Mars and a bleary eyed Chuckie
downstairs and had a quick breakfast and
took Mars' Limo to Vondelpark. we wanted
to get there early to stroll the park. Vondelpark is similiar to Central Park in
new York and visiting it gave us a wonderful
insight into the residents of Amsterdam and
the sun felt great beaming down on the five
of us. After our stroll we sipped Espresso
as we found our reserved seats for the Cindy2
Show. Cindy2 is a soft-spoken creative genius and
avoids the high fashion lifestyle many of
us (including Angel and me) embrace and her
show reflected this low-key approach to life.
With a six piece woodwind and string ensemble,
each model walked gracefully across the stage
with little fanfare. Cindy2's designs speak
for themselves and no theatrics are needed. Cindy2 decided to start her show with her
bright and popular Summer set which includes ten versatile and fun outfits
made of the finest cotton available. Her
light pastel criss cross dress with matching
slides is the definition of Spring and her
two piece Blue Glitter Set with matching
slides and gloves offers understated elegance
for any Country Club event. (continued below)
The crowd in attendance, including this Fashion
Editor, loved Cindy2's Light Pink and White
set with matching thigh high boots. The top
is a wonderful full vest style, open down
the middle with sterling silver clasps and
a hint of fluffy white accents. The skirt
and boots match purrfectly. Following the Summer Sets, Cindy2 turned
the stage over to her Dress line, a magnificient collection of eight designs
that cover the whole color spectrum. Our
favorites were the pastel yellow with purple
accents in the shape of stars know as the
Yellow Dress and a wonderful light suede
with lavender trim called the Country Dress.
Cindy 2 also did a wonderful design called
the Gold and White Dress which looks like
a rich tiger print. Next came Cindy2's Bling and accompanying tops. These are a wonderful collection of tops
that can mixed and matched with slacks or
skirts. Her Bling Tops in sequined Purple and Red are too flashy
for every day wear, but purrfect for an evening
out dancing. My favorite was her light aqua design named, LBSTR which I bought. Angel
bought the Green Sexy Top while Mela and
Mom decided on the Purple Star top. This
fashion editor strongly suggests that every
Moove lady had at least two of these wonderful
tops in their closet., Cindy2 also has a fantastic collection of
slacks for the Moove lady wishing to appear at special events in a
more low key fashion and several pair of
boots in Leather, Gold and Lime. Cindy2 is
comfortable working in almost any area of
fashion and her lines are extremely popular.
. Following the Boot and Top portion of the
show, Cindy2 brought out her Shirts, and Sets Line and the crowd simply went wild. Cindy2 has
an amazing talent for knowing exactly what
the Moove lady is looking for and with these
two lines, Cindy 2 has done it again. Cindy2's Tiger, Black Marble, Purple Leather
and Red Bling are delicious and at only $500.00
an outfit, they are an amazing bargain. But
as has been the rule for the other shows
we have attended on our tour, Cindy2, saved
the best for last. To close the show, Cindy2 decided to show
off her Multi Set, a delightful tie dye outfit
in a rainbow of colors and her Silver Set,
wich just has to be seen to appreciate. In
glittering white and silver, with a simple
comfortable cut, this is an outfit you just
have to try on. Lined in the finest off-white
silk the tight, body-hugging slacks are a
pleasure to wear and make the Moove lady
feel ultra-sexy while keeping an elegant
and conservative look. Of all the designs
shown at Cindy2's Spring Show, the Multi
(seen on the right) was my fav. Cindy2 ended
her show just as the sun was setting and
the crowd stuck around to enjoy a wonderful
concert of soft jazz and classical music
and fellowship. We all took Cindy2 to dinner, and after
dropping her off at her gorgeous home (Cindy2
was exausted), Mela, Angel, Mom, Mars and
I went dancing at several clubs and toured
Amsterdam. Mom and Mars eventually went off
by themselves, Mela met and went off with
three Rugby players from London and Angel
and I walked slowly back to the Hotel to
prepare for our flight to Paris, for Angel's
closing show. I fell off to sleep dreaming
of owning all of Cindy2's outfits and I smiled. CLICK HERE TO READ MORE> > > >
