East) - Skiathos After a peaceful night aboard our yachts,
we spent another day exploring Tunisia -
Medina, Tunis, the nearby Northern Sahara
and wonderful historic religious shrines. Both the Sky Car and the Aquada got lots
of use. The poor
stewards on board
the Shadow
Yacht spent most
of their time refueling
all the kewl toys
we brought with us. I spent the early part of the day with Mela,
KyCindy, Carlie, Jess1ee, Juntu, Sidious
and Enti strolling the bazaars and small
shops deep in the heart of Medina.

We kinda went shopping crazy and after having
our perfumes, carpets, tapestries, and a
water pipe or two (hmmm) delivered to the
Shadow Yacht, we met up with the other girls
and took a sailing lesson aboard a local
sail boat. I decided that I like the motor
yachts better. The boyz had decided to stay close as to
not make another
major boo-boo (like
the
formal ball faux
paux) and took advantage
of the sub aboard
the Mine Games, the
Jet
Skis and of course
the Sky Car. The day was wonderful and although we would
have liked to have
stayed longer, we
had
a date with Skiathos,
and some of us were
looking forward to
Banana Beach, most
particularly
Rando. Apollo had volunteered to plan out the Aegean
portion of the Cruise
since we were going
to his home country.
Taking his advice, we
first popped into
the port of Athens to pick
up some supplies
and to pick up Lady Fire
and Paccy who had
flown into Athens from
Australia. We then headed due southeast for a short
time and after crossing just north of the
Cyclades headed due north along the Greek
coast.. We layed anchor off the southern
coast of Skiathos and let everyone just wander,
visit other islands or play in the water. Juntu, Enti, Sidious Jess1ee, Carlie, xxJuliexx,
Mela and I decided to hit the nude beach,
Banana Beach, on Skiathos. Skiathos has always been called by the same
name since way back in the Hellenic times.
Some folks say that this name was given to
the island by the Pelasgians who were its
first locals because they were amazed by
the great shadow (skia in Greek) of all the
trees on the island. Mysteryman and Auntie Wood Nymph decided
to take one of the
sailing yachts by themselves
to Thasos for a romantic getaway. Apollo, Jadely, Aylin, Doc, and Ice King
decided to head northeast
to Mount Athos
aboard the second
sailing yacht. Mount Athos Is the center of Eastern Christian
Orthodox Monasticism. Set in an area of outstanding
natural beauty, it is a treasury which houses
and guards many religious artifacts both
national and artistic in value. It is also a "workshop" where
religious arts and crafts are still created
to this day. Deep and genuine spirituality
is allowed to flourish and grow. As an institution
Mount Athos is, and has been, the chief standard
bearer of Orthodox Christianity. Though land-linked, it is accessible only
by boat. The number
of visitors is restricted
and all are required
to get a special entrance
permit before entering
Mount Athos. Only
males are allowed
entrance into Mount Athos,
which is called "Garden
of the Virgin"
by monks.
Orthodox Christians take precedence in getting
permits. Only males over the age of 18 who
are members of the Eastern Orthodox Church
are allowed to live on Athos. There are religious
guards, who are not monks, that assist the
monks. Anyone not a monk is required to live
in
The boyz LOVED
the Aquada
the peninsula's capital, Karyes. Before our group headed out for our seperate
adventures in the Aegean, we agreed to meet
in three days in Eresos on the island of
Lesvos. We also handed out T-Mobile Sidekicks
to everyone and asked that they all check
in at least three times a day. Our arrival at Banana beach as the first
nude Avatars ever to visit did turn a few
heads; but as is the custom at most nude
beaches, staring is considered rude and we
were quickly accepted. I will admit that
some of the locals and other tourists did
find it interesting that..... well.....,
that we had the exact same parts as the Humans
in Real. The water at Banana Beach was some of the
clearest I have seen
since my trip to Tahiti
last year and a wonderful
breeze blew along
the shore. We all stayed after the crowds had left and
as the sun was setting, it was nice to just
sit and chat and spend some fun times with
friends. Sidious had brought some wine and Enti started
a small fire and
we sat passing the bottle
around as the wood
crackled. It was one of those evenings that just seems
purrfect. Like everything is in its place. As it began to get late, Mela and I headed
back to the Crystal Wind as the fading sound
of laughter and cheerful voices of our friends
blended into the splashing of waves on the
shore. Just as days blur together when life is hectic
and confusing, the same is true for times
of total relaxation. While we were docked
off Skiathos, we floated on rafts, went jetskiing,
and strolled around the island. It is amazing
how vibrant the colors of the flowers are
on Skiathos. Maggy, KYCindy, Jadely, Twisted and Aylin
so fell in love with the island that they
met with a Realtor and would up going in
together on a beautiful vacation home overlooking
the sea. The locals totally welcomed us as
Avatars and I think the Greek people are
some of the warmest Humans I have ever met.
Looking for
a vacation
in Greece
On the morning of the third day, we headed
across the Aegean to Lesvos and anchored
in Kallonis Bay. Lesvos is known as the Island
of Lesbos in the English language. The island
of
Lesvos is a symphony of soft light and mild
chiaroscuro.
