Continued from Page 8 When Mela and I decided to buy a Yacht for
the Crystal Angel
and the residents of Moove,
we shopped all the
top names. Trinity, Astondoa,
Codecase and Horizon.
We attended the Fort Lauderdale Yacht Show
and the Dubai Yacht Show and while we saw
some of the finest ships ever built, nothing
really caught our fancy. Although we could
have a new yacht customized however we wanted,
we were told it would take up to a year and
we really wanted to use the new yacht on
this cruise. While we were in Dubai, we were enjoying
tea at one of the hospitality tents and met
a wonderful man named, Tilli Antonelli, who
is the President of Pershing Yachts.
A true friend
of Avatars, Tilli Antonelli
of Pershing
He sat down with us and was too nice. He
explained he had heard of our "troubles"
with the growing anti-Avatar movement and
had also heard we were looking for a yacht.
"I may have just the ship for you",
he told us. "It was ordered by an oil
tycoon from the U.A.E., but after it was
built he decided on a total custom build".
"It has never been used, and has only
the highest quality materials throughout",
Tilli explained to us.
The Maybach (top) and the Venturi. Cars for
the ultra-rich like us.
"I have it docked at pier 9 and I can
take you there now to look it if you have
the time", he offered. We agreed to go look at it and Tilli had
his driver pull up his Maybach Exelero. "You
are going to love these Maybachs", Mela
told me as we entered the HUGE luxurious
auto. She was right. I now understand why
the Maybach is the choice of those with wealth
and a status to maintain. Mela looked like she totally belonged in
the $400,000.00 luxury
automobile, and I
joked with her about
how she should get one
of these little cars.
"I have thought
about it", Mela
said, "but I have
my eyes on a Venturi Fetish". "I have heard of those",
Tilli told us. "They
are a French automobile,
if I remember correctly".
Mela looked
like she belonged
in the Maybach
"Yes they are", Mela answered.
"It is the first production electric
sports car in automotive history".
"They also start at $400,000.00 but
the idea of traveling
at 100 mph (0 to 60
in less than five
seconds) for more than
215 miles before
recharging...AND not having
to buy any gas really
appeals to me",
Mela told Tilli.
"Now tell us about
this yacht you think
we should buy". Tilli began to explain in detail about the
yacht. "It is a Pershing 115 and was just completed.
It really is brand
new.It has four guest cabins and five heads (bathrooms).
There are also three crew cabins and four
crew heads". "The interior is ultra modern with an
emphasis on a clean
uncluttered look.
With a clean
uncluttered
look throughout
the Crystal
Wind, traveling
to the four
corners
of the Earth
is a total
joy.
It has two helm stations in case you want
to take over from the Captain, and is capable
of speeds to 52 knots. The maximum number
of people that the 115 can accomodate on
board , including crew is 22" He continued to talk about the engines and
operating costs and I got kinda bored and
looked out the window at the colorful flags
fluttering in the ocean breeze atop the masts
of all the white mega-yachts lining the docks.
They all looked the same. Sure, some were
fancier than others or had four levels instead
of three, but all in all they were the same
style......and then I saw it............a
silver rocket ship on the water - or had
the Moma Museum of Art flooded and this was
a floating piece of rare beautiful art? The Maybach stopped in front of the "silver
rocket modern fine
art thingy, and we
all
got out. I just stared.
It was huge. It was
long. It was shiny
and I wanted it.
We boarded
and
The Pershing
115 is loaded
with the latest
technology
and gadgetry
began a tour of the
Pershing 115. Pershing has recently debuted its first mega-yacht
model the Pershing
115 which combines the
elegant comfort of
a luxury yacht with the
sleek, sporty curves
and speed of an open
yacht. Imagined by yacht designer Fulvio De Simoni
and built by the Pesaro, the Italian based
boat yard that is part of the Ferretti Group,
the Pershing 115 is available in two different
versions. The first is fitted with twin MTU diesel
engines totaling 7400 horsepower. Combined
with two Kamewa Rolls-Royce water-jet drives,
the yacht can reach a top speed of 43 knots
Mela, Tory and Rando on the maiden voyage
of the Crystal Wind
. The second version
has all of that plus
a 5100-horsepower
Textron Lycoming turbine
that can produce
a whopping 57-knot maximum
speed. The one we
were looking at was fitted
with the Textron
engines.. The 115 has two sun decks with a retractable
bimini tops and an adjustable semi-circular
sofa, a big gadget-laden cockpit, a quiet
private study and media room, a full-beam
master suite, three guest cabins each with
a private bathroom, three crew cabins, and
a spacious galley. For both day and night socializing, sunning,
relaxation, the roomy
cockpit is the focal
point. Its solarium
section also features
a large covered area,
well equipped with
chairs, lounges,
an extendable table and
fully equipped refrigerator
and bar. Tilli could tell that we wanted the yacht
when he caught Mela
and I jumping and down
on the bed in a cabin
singing, "we want
this yacht, we don't
care how much it costs
- la la la la la".
It was kinda hard
to negotiate a lower
price after that display
of decorum. LOL.

Wind
The yacht cost the Crystal Angel more than
12 million euros
($14.5 million) and if it
had not been for
the bed-bouncing we probably
could have bought
it for less than 10 million
euros. Oh well. After having the money wired to the broker
and getting confirmation, Tilli signed over
the Pershing to us promising he would have
it delivered in time for the 2nd Annual Rose
Cruise. Tilli kept his promise,; and Mela, Auntie
Wood, MysteryMan, Craftie Lady, Razz, Livid,
Waya, Rando and I were now cruising across
the Atlantic towards Tunisia on the promised
boat. The little boat we named the Crystal
Wind.
