In This Issue America. What a wonderful place. Whether you are surfing off the sunny beaches
of Malibu, California,
going to the County
Fair in Hastings,
Nebraska or shopping in
downtown New York,
America is a very kewl
place. Sure, America is not purrfect and like all
places, we need to fix some things - The
Economy, Health Care, The Home Crisis, The Energy
Crisis, Wars, and a Government that seems
a bit detached from the citizens they are
suppose to serve. America needs help.
But who can fix it? Who can help? While both
of the major candidates for President (Barack
Obama and John McCain) are nice enough guys
and I really cannot say one bad thing about
either, they are Politicians and the very
nature of a Politician is to get elected.
This is not to say that these two Senators
do not care about all of us; they simply
are so far away from our daily struggles
that they are unable to really offer serious
solutions. That is where Mela and I come
in. I have decided to run as President of the
United States with Mela as my running mate.
Besides being the only female team to run
for this important job, we are also the only
Avatars to ever run for any political office. "WHOA", you may say to yourself,
"These two are not qualified and have
a snowballs chance in Tahiti in getting elected".
You may be right, since our Constitution
does not address Avatars and since we are
pixels, the age requirement is unclear. So
why run? Why put ourselves in the bullseye?
Why even care? There are several reasons. The first is we
need jobs...badly. Running for President
is a job. Since running for President is
a job, we think we should get paid for doing
it (blond logic). I do not think that Presidential Candidates
should pay 100 million dollars to get a job.
It is like me paying Wal-mart 10 years of
my salary so I can get a job at the check
out counter. Also, if we do not win, we will be sad and
blue. When we are sad and blue, we go shopping
and by raising money in this campaign, we
will have money to shop.....and my 8 year
old Dell that Jill gave me is on its last
legs. I need a new computer badly. The second reason for our entering the demanding
arena of politics is that we think we can
get a message out to both Americans and non-Americans
that we can fix things. It is possible to
bring America back to the greatness it once
enjoyed - a country of wonderful people based
on freedom, compassion, intelligence, respect
and responsibility. Mela and I are marketers. That is really
our jobs here at the Crystal Angel. We market Moove Designers, Brands,
Products and Travel Destinations. We market
ourselves and we market and promote Peace
and Love. We are pretty good at it, or so
we have been told. The time has come to market
solutions to the problems we face in America.
The third reason we are running is to market
the magazine and raise money for new computers
(as I mentioned above). We are at a point
that we are ready to expand and improve the
Crystal Angel. There is nothing really more frustrating
than having a creative urge that requires
more than a 256kb system. With our screenplay
for Beanz almost finished, our Angel Kiss
cartoon series waiting in the wings and our
desire to open a public 24 hour gathering
space in Moove - we are ready to upgrade
our systems....but that requires that elusive
creature called MONEY. In addition, we would really like to minimize
the number of advertisers
that appear within
the Crystal Angel.
Just maintaining these
advertisers is a
huge job and takes away
from our real mission
of marketing Moove
and the creative
geniuses that have chosen
to call our community
home. "That is all good and interesting, Tory
- but I live in France; why should we care"?
Well, I will tell you (LOL). What happens
in America affects the whole world. When
we use too much oil, the rest of the worlds
gas prices go up. When our economy falters,
it causes a domino effect outside our borders. When we go to war, it affects everyone and
when we do not live by the foundation our
country was built on, we all look like hypocrites
and lose respect in the global community. Some will say we are making light of serious
problems or that we are not Patriotic, and
I do understand how some could feel that
way - but to me, being Patriotic is loving
what America was built on. Freedom, Justice,
Responsibility and Tolerance. Both Mela and
I take the problems facing Americans and
the World very seriously. We are living through
these problems every day, just like all of
you. Our way of working to fix these things
is our magazine. In this issue, you will read why Tory and
Mela should get your vote and about the Avatar
Freedom Party. We will share with you our
plan to have Congress wear NASCAR jumpsuits
and why a Flat Tax needs to be started. We
will shed light on the Pickens Plan to reduce
our insatiable appetite for oil - all the
while looking simply fabulous in Moove fashions.
After reading this issue, you will have a
chance to help us and support us. You may
