I know advertising! LOL. Not so much on what works, but what is a waste of time.

Advertising is two things to the Crystal Angel. We try to make enough by running ads without having pop-ups and a bunch of other things that make you want to pull your hair out.

It is also us using advertising to get people from both Moove and Beyond to visit our magazine. Simple math will tell you that you cannot spend more on advertising than you make by selling advertising. That is called economics for those of you who did not know or for people from Washington D.C.

Most of the ads you see on the Crystal Angel are pay per click or pay per sale (like the fashion ads on the right). If someone buys something, we get paid a commission - usually not more than

8%. Google Adsense is an example of pay per click which credits you a small amount (under $1.00) for each QUALIFIED click.

As far as the Crystal Angel paying for advertising to get the word out, I just do not spend money on that. The only time we paid for people to see us was last year when we entered the Webby Awards which cost us $150.00. We did get a lot of new eyeballs, but the economy this year has kept us away from the Webby's and spending the money. Of course, we would have won. LOL.

Mostly, I use Twitter, YouTube and free press releases to get the word out about the mag. I also use the boards in Moove more than I should, and of course Lothar is wonderful in mentioning the Crystal Angel on both on the community page and in the newsletter.

But I always wished I could just advertise something to NOOBS or just to Gold Members or just to other girls in Moove. Using the general board is good and all, but most NOOBS or even long term members do not visit them - and I always run the risk of over exposure to the same people. As usual, my White Knight came to the rescue and once again his name was Lothar.

The new advertising tool available to Moove residents is pretty awesome, but should be used with a clear idea of the message you want to get across - and who you are trying to reach. Moove makes it easy.

First of all, you can set up your ad for free. You can change the look, fix things, add gif's or in the one we made for the magazine, even make it a short flash movie. The size of the ad is big enough to get noticed and is easy enough for even the resident with the most basic graphics experience to

Once you are happy with your advertisement, it is time to decide who you want to show it to. This is more important than it first seems. Showing your ad costs CC's and while not cheap, fine tuning your audience can improve your chances of getting a new customer, selling a Design, or even offering help to NOOBS.

For example: maybe you offer a full make-over for just boyz for some CC's. It makes no sense to advertise to the girl crowd so you improve your chances by making sure your ad is just seen by boyz. Gender is just one of the options.

Narrow it down to a language (English, German, Afrikaans, Arabic, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, French, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese,

Korean, Lithuanian, Malay, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian), choose an age for your audience, or choose an occupation, a geographic region or country and even which operating system they are using. The combinations are almost endless.

But there is even more! Opening a Club on just Saturdays? Time your advertisement to show just on Saturdays. Do you have a Designer website and a shop in Moove that is only open in the evenings on Wednesday? Set your advertisement to show only during that time. You can even just show an ad on peoples birthday. Not even Google Adsense let's you do that.

Moove also makes it very easy to pause your advertising campaign, and it counts your clicks and how many times your ad shows. The second one is important because that is how you are charged CC's.

As I have mentioned, to run an ad campaign is not cheap but it is effective and if you are really trying to run a business and not just a hobby, then this is one serious program. If done right, you can see a return on your investment.
