Britt Black - Black Out Rock n Roll Queen With a Unique Style All
Her Own
By Jill and
Tory Free Jet Black Heart Video
At twenty, Britt Black is a seasoned music
maven devoting her life to her tenacity to
write, rock and record.
In just two decades Britt Black has geared
up for success. Britt's skill with music
was evident at early age of ten when she
co-wrote with pop icon Bif Naked for the
track "Violence" released on Lava/
Atlantic. At The age of fourteen Britt founded the
famed Canadian all female teen group Live
On Release. LOR was signed to Warner Music
where the band released two albums "Seeing
Red" and "Goes On A Field Trip".
The success of these records landed the band
on international showcases, along with starting
a blitz on Canada's media including several
high rotation music videos and spots on national
TV & radio shows. Britt Black's writing talents landed the
band's premier single "I'm afraid of
Britney Spears" on the soundtrack for
the internationally successful movie "Dude
Where's My Car" staring Ashton Kutcher
and Sean Michael Scott. Britt Black is no stranger to the stage and
has played everything that has come her way
from personal parties, local punk shows,
skate parks, ice cream parlors and headlining
dates with Live On Release then scoring opening
slots for Bif Naked, Goldfinger, Simple Plan,
Sevendust, Treble Charger, Gob, Matthew Good,
along with a myriad of coast to coast Rock
Festivals. At eighteen years of age when
Live On Release called it quits, Britt Black
was quickly scooped up as lead guitarist
by Bif Naked. After nurturing the young talent
for a number of years under the Her Royal
Majesty's Records umbrella, Bif wasn't going
to miss an opportunity to bring fresh blood
into the group and shake up the lineup prior
to embarking on a feeding frenzy of 50 headline
dates. courtesy of Britt Black Official Page Tory's Take - Believe it or not, my younger sister taught
me something....go figure. The last time
Tina came to visit me, she brought a CD of
Britt Black named Black Out. She kept bugging
me and bugging me - "you have got to
hear this", this is a great band",
"blah, blah, blah". When she told
me it was a girl singer, I was like "okay,
another Cheetah Girls", lets hear it
and then I will go get sick". By the time I heard the first few seconds
of Baby Come Back, I knew this was no Cheetah
Girls - this was like Joan Jett with a touch
of the Waitresses, Bangles, and Ozzie Osborn,
all with a heavy dose of Queensryche. This
girl rocks. From the opening heavy guitar work on the
first few seconds of "Baby Come Back"
to the moving lyrics and soft tones on "Leave
the Light On" to the closing Ramones
influenced "The Next Big Thing",
Britt Black owns her sound, and frankly she
knows it. The last four tracks, (Good Girls,
Definitely Maybe, Girl of your Dreams and
The Next Big Thing) makes this a CD that
should be in every Moove collection. In addition to Britts amazing voice and the
unequaled guitar work that forces the listener
to pick up an Air Guitar and dance around
the room, the drums of Daryl Wood are beyond
belief. Don't believe me? Check out the opening
drums on Good Girls tell me if you think
different. Listed below are the tracks on Black Out
with my personal rating, with 5 stars being
the best. I have offered a short 1 minute
clip from each song to wet your appetite
for more of this 20 year old force in Rock
and Roll. All I ask is that if like what
you hear, buy her CD. Even Good Girls gotta make a living. Now
