KOTO is looking for a few good men today to assist in moving our new transmitter into our new transmitter shack on Coonskin Ridge near the top of the gondola. If you can lend a hand to your community radio station call Ben or Jim at 728-4334, or come by the station on Tuesday at noon, at 207 N. Pine St. Wear gloves & good boots, and thanks for helping

The Ah Haa School is now accepting registrations for the following classes. "Art Presentation & Framing", begins on October 4th. "Salsa Dancing" starts on October 5th. "Bezel Setting in Jewelry" & "Polaroid Transfer" both start on October 7th. "Mommy and Me Yoga" for crawling infants and kids up to 5 years old, & "Mono-Printing for Kids" ages
Kindergarten to 2nd grades" both start on October 9th. "Watercolor for Beginners" & "Sushi for Teens" both begin on October 10th. "Big and Small Sculpture for 3rd – 5th grades" begins on October 11th. "Clay Printing" starts on October 14th. To register or for more information call the school at 728-3886.
Telluride Karate Studio is offering a series of classes for children from October 10th through November 16th. Classes are every Tuesday & Thursday from 3:30 until 5:30 PM. For more information call Andrea at 708-0807.
The Marshal's Dept. would like to remind everyone that black bears are very active at this time of year. Residents need to make sure their trash is locked up and that bears are not feeding on trash. If you have a bear problem call the Marshal's Dept. at 728-3818.

TCTV channel 12 will air the Sunset Concert Series performance by Teresa Anderssen, tonight at 7 PM.
The International Snow Science Workshop will be sharing stories & photos, clips, & a short film, of the history of avalanches in the San Juans at the Palm Theater this evening at 7:30 PM. This is free and open to the public.
Join Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer at the Wilkinson Public library to discuss “No Frills Poetry, a glimpse at the origins of modern verse.” Taking place tonight, & on the 10th, 17th, and 24th. At 6 PM in the Telluride Room.
A FREE evening event for ages 13-21 will take place on Wednesday from 7 until 10 pm at the Fly Me To The Moon Saloon. Music by DJ Sergio, & FREE HIV testing and counseling.
There will be a free screening of the documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” at the Palm Theater on Thursday at 6 PM.
Till Willis will perform live at the Side St. Tavern on Thursday evening.
Writers in the Sky taks place on Saturday the 7th, at the Wilkinson Public Library. Come hear Colorado authors tell their own stories: what inspires them to write, how they craft their narratives, how they got published, and more. Join Will Hobbs, Carol Batrus, Clinton McKinzie, David Mason and Julia Ross, and get inspired yourself! First talk starts at 10

The Telluride Choral Society will perform "Great American Western Musicals" featuring selections from OKLAHOMA, ANNIE GET YOUR GUN, PAINT YOUR WAGON, THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN, & THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS on Saturday the 7th at the Elks Club. Doors open at 6, the show begins at 7 PM. Discounted

The 8th annual Octoberfest takes place on Saturday the 7th. It will be in the Heritage Plaza in Mtn. Village from noon until 5 PM. Events include pumpkin decorating, hot dog eating contest, and live Oompah music. For more info. call 708 -0760.
A presentation on "Switching to Energy Efficient Lighting" will be held on Sunday the 8th at 4 PM at the Wilkinson Library. Chris Myers will present strategies for lowering energy consumption in the home.
Auditions will be held for parts in the play "Beauty Lou & The Country Beast" on Monday the 9th at the Palm Theater from 3:30 until 5:30 PM. Plan to stay the full 2 hours, and a rehearsal will follow the auditions. Performances will take place on Friday the 13th &

There will be a free screening of the film Iraq For Sale at 6 PM on Monday October 9th, at the Wilkinson Library. Robert Greenwald’s new documentary on the war profiteering in the Middle East, and the privatization of the military.
Applications are now available for the fall grant cycle for the Just For Kids Foundation. Awards will go to innovative and effective organizations serving children in San Miguel County. Individuals are also welcome to apply. Applications are available at Nevasca Realty and online at www.justforkidsfoundation.org or by calling 728-0680. Applications are
due Oct. 10th, by 5 PM. and may be dropped off at Nevasca Realty or mailed to Just For Kids at P.O. Box 308, Telluride, CO 81435.
The Walking Words Dinner will occur on October 13th this year. This event pairs fine dining with selected readings in person from several authors. This event does fill up quickly. For more info., or to register, call the Ah Haa School at 728-3886.
The Telluride Choral Society's WinterSing rehearsals start on Wednesday October 11th, from 6 until 7:15 PM in the Wilkinson Library Program Room. Beginners welcome. There will be a free class for participants from 5:30 until 6 PM every Wednesday of the eight week rehearsal period. Call David Brubacher at 728-4034 for more info.
The Walking Words Writing Workshops take place on October 14th. That Saturday is devoted to consecutive 2 ½ hour workshops in fiction, poetry and nonfiction, held at the Ah Haa School. Essay writing from 9 to 11:30 a.m., Poetry from 12:30 to 3 p.m., and Fiction from 3:30 to 6 p.m. No previous experience is necessary, and workshops are limited to 12

A discussion on "AMERICA VS. ISLAM", happens on Saturday the 14th, at 6 PM at the Wilkinson Library. Author Robert Schultheis (who has recently returned from the Middle East) will present a talk and lead discussion on the conflict in the Middle East.
