Images of America Telluride Release Reception - The Telluride Historical Museum is proud to announce the release of its new book Images of America: Telluride. Author Elizabeth Barbour and the museum collaborated to publish this Telluride history through the museum's historic photographs and captions by Barbour. Free Film: Loose Change, 2nd Edition - 6 p.m. in the Wilkinson Public Library's Program Room, followed by discussion. This sobering documentary asks some intriguing questions about what really happened on 9/11.

Tamarisk Time Again - The Telluride Nature Conservancy will once again team up with the Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado for a Tamarisk Removal Work Weekend at the Tabeguache Preserve along the San Miguel River and volunteers are needed. This is a beautiful time to be at Tabeguache - it is not too buggy or hot and all the leaves are beginning to turn. Volunteers will camp out at the preserve Friday and Saturday nights. Work will begin on Saturday morning and wrap up around 1 p.m. on Sunday. Sign up at www.voc.org.

Rediscovering the Wisdom of the Ancient Mystery Schools, with Julie Scott, presented by the Telluride Esoteric Astrological Society and the Spirit of the Valley Festival. Scott is the Grand Master of the English Language Lodge of the Rosicrucians, and an expert on the Western mystery tradition. Join her as she explores the history of enlightenment, Orpheus, Pythagoras, Delphi, and ancient Egypt, 6 p.m. in the Wilkinson Public Library's Program Room.

St. Sophia Nature Center Activities - Ongoing: Daily Children's Nature Activities - Children environmental education activities at the center and outdoors, classes with provided nature crafts. For children of all ages, 10 a.m.-noon, Mon.-Fri. All activities are free and open to the public. Ridgway Farmers Market - Sundays through September, 8 a.m.-noon. Located in Ridgway on Hwy. 550 across from the Ouray County Fairgrounds. This season features breakfast burritos and coffee, local vegetables and fresh fruit, bread, buffalo and elk meat, eggs, wine, fresh cut flowers, soaps and lotions, jewelry, crafts, and much more. First Sunday of each month will feature a cooking demonstration using produce from the market.

San Miguel County Open Space Commission Land Heritage Program - Phase V of the Land Heritage Program has started. The Commission will spend up to $1.125 million purchasing development rights from willing landowners in San Miguel County. Applications are now available from the County's Open Space and Recreation Department, 369-5469, in Telluride, 333 W. Colorado Ave., and at the County Finance Office in the Lone Cone Building at 1120 Summit Street in Norwood. All applications must have been received by Sept. 1. In late October, the Commission will announce which projects were selected for funding. County Mercury Collection and Recycling - San Miguel County is collecting old mercury thermometers, old cell phones and spent ink cartridges. Only thermometers containing mercury (no other household items containing mercury) are being collected. Ink cartridges and cell phones are being recycled to benefit Norwood's Wright Stuff Foundation.
