Telluride is an amazing place with interesting
fact and fiction to enjoy while visiting.
How did Telluride get its name? Exactly
what was mined here? What's the deal with
the gargoyle on the roof above the Fly-me-to-the-Moon
Saloon? and other puzzlements.
The most important fact is that here in
Telluride you will enjoy spectacular scenery
and warm friendly locals.
Downtown Telluride is a registered National
Historic District. By carefully preserving
the wonderful structures of the past, Telluridians
have maintained a unique, walkable, tour
into the days of yester-year.
From our historic Courthouse to the L.L.
Nunn house, Telluride offers a wonderful
opportunity to peer into lifestyles of the
rugged individuals who built what is now
a world class resort. Although easily toured
in solitude, to enjoy a more in depth learning

When to Visit Telluride
In spring and fall, the weather is unpredictable,
but rates drop and the crowds are gone. Spring
is a good time for fishing, rafting, bird
watching, and wildlife viewing. In Fall,
the fish are spawning and the angling is
excellent.
Summer begins in late June or early July.
Days are warm, with highs in the 80s, and
nighttime temperatures falling to the 40s
and 50s. Winter arrives in during November,
and deep snows cover the mountains and valleys
by December. Temperatures are just above
freezing by day and below zero at night.
Winter tapers off in March, though snow lingers
into April on valley bottoms and into July
on mountain passes.
